For optimal growth and flowering of Forever&Ever, provide light fertilizer every spring. Preferably use organic, slow-release fertilizers for this. Depending on the temperature, these fertilizers release fertilizer in a controlled manner for an entire season (for example Osmocote). Provide fertilizers with an N-P-K ratio of approximately 7-6-12. This is so sustainable! Follow the instructions on the packaging for optimal results.
You can obtain hydrangea plant food in our webshop.
Forever&Ever hydrangeas are also excellent as cut flowers. It is possible throughout the season to cut the flowers from the hydrangea with impunity and put them in a vase or dry them. Even the dried flowers have a beautiful ornamental value.
To get extra flowers in your home, it is best to cut the stems deep in the plant, just above two buds. These buds grow again in the spring and produce beautiful flowers.
Forever&Ever remains a compact hydrangea that does not grow larger than 90 cm. So you don't have to prune. Even after years in the garden, the plant retains its limited height. If pruning is desired, pruning the Forever&Ever hydrangea is very easy.
The best time to prune Forever&Ever is mid to late February, just before the new growing season starts. We recommend pruning no later than March 1. To keep a small, full hydrangea, cut all branches about 20-25 cm above the ground.
Forever&Ever, unlike many other hydrangeas, will bloom on the new wood the same season after pruning.
The flower color of the pink hydrangea can be changed to blue. And the flower color of the blue Forever&Ever can be changed to pink.
Blue hydrangea
An acidic soil (with a low pH) produces blue flowers. You can make pink flowers turn blue by adding aluminum sulfate or Hydrangea Blue Maker to the soil. This causes the soil to become more acidic (lower pH). Flowers respond to this by turning blue. You can obtain Hydrangea Blue Maker in our webshop.
Pink Hydrangea
Flowers can change from blue to pink by making the soil more alkaline (higher pH). This can be done by adding garden lime.
Forever&Ever is hardy to -25 degrees Celsius. So he can take a beating. If the hydrangea is in a pot, we recommend covering it at a temperature of -3 degrees.
Are there buds in the plants? Then it is possible that the buds freeze during the frost period! Therefore, protect the plants that are in the bud stage. The best way to do this is to tie a blanket over the plants with bubble wrap over it.
